Models In Motion: Stargate Atlantis

This is a montage of stills and video of the City of Atlantis I built for the "Stargate Atlantis" series. I built the model for use from season 2 until the end of the show for the in-house FX crew. The geometry was created with Luxology's Modo. The texturing and lighting were done in Newtek's Lightwave.

The model was then distributed to other studios for use in their visual effects shots. Aside from standing in as the primary Atlantian base, this model was also used to populate the Replicator city of Azuras. I created a few extra key buildings for up close camera shots of that planet as well.

Building the 3D Destiny model for Stargate Universe

In the first season of Stargate Universe (SG-U), I had the opportunity of being the Chief Modeler of the Starship “Destiny”. Normally this involves modeling and texturing a ship from concept drawings. However, in this case, due to my experience on Atlantis, I was offered a wider role early in the design process. We commenced work on the ship just as Atlantis was coming to an end. During the conceptual process I received input from visual effects supervisor Mark Savela, producer Brad Wright and Robert Cooper.

New Stargate Universe trailer

Get a sneak peak at the new Stargate Universe trailer. You finally get a look at their main ship "The Destiny" that I built (modeled and textured) for the show. The characters spend plenty of time on this spaceship which resembles an old floating city in space.

Stargate Universe - Coming Soon

The most recent sci-fi production I have been involved with, is "Stargate Universe". My role was to build (model/texture) the main spaceship for the show called the "Destiny". The Destiny is an Ancient ship, where the main cast is stranded upon. The ship hasn't been revealed yet, but here's a 45 second promo video from Scifi.com that gives you a taste of what's to come. The show will premiere on Friday, October 2 in the US.

Stargate SG-1 & Atlantis Images Updated in Portfolio

I've uploaded images from my work on Stargate SG-1 & Atlantis. I modeled and textured the new version of the Atlantis city from season 2 onward, along with the Replicator version of Atlantis (Azuras). Also built the original CG model and Textures of the Daedalus fleet, as well as the F-302 Fighters. Enjoy
