Use Direct Ethernet for File Transfers (Mac only)

Here's a quick tip. Have you ever needed to transfer files between 2 macs, and didn't have a running network or firewire cable available? OSX will function as if on a network by connecting the two machines using one Ethernet cable. In case you're not aware, this will work over firewire as well.

Just make sure file sharing is turned on in the sharing system preferences panel. The network cards in the Macs will sense the connections and make the appropriate changes for you to see the other computers in the finder's shared section.

Doing this on a PC requires a crossover cable and a bit more work, but it will work as well.

Back In Time - For Linux

As Linux becomes more mainstream, we are seeing more well designed applications. Backup is no exception. In the past I've used RSYNC for my backup purposes in the linux world, combined with scripts/cron jobs. However, recently I've been using Ubuntu quite a bit, and looking for a better solution.

Enter "Back in Time", inspired from the “flyback project” and “TimeVault”. It's similar to Apple’s Time Machine, just not as visually stunning. Seems to be a good backup software solution. If you're not already backing up, DO IT NOW. Even if it's not using this application.

Hidden Windows XP Pro Config Tool

System admins use this frequently. However, you may not be aware that Windows XP Pro has some hidden configuration tools available in your system. It's called the Local Group Policy Editor, usually referred to as gpedit.

It lets you modify almost every feature in Windows XP without having to use regedit. To launch this tool, select Start and then Run, then type the following: gpedit.msc

Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles - Portfolio Update

I've uploaded gallery images of the T-888 model I made for "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles". The show is now wrapping up it's second season on Fox. I Modeled and Textured the cyborg for Zoic Studios. The final texturing was tweaked a bit in house for lighting, camera & reflections.
